Although with specialist nurses, podiatrists and other multidisciplinary members well established, it could be said that pharmacists are a bit late to the game in diabetes care. This article will discuss the role of specialist pharmacists in diabetes care, the challenges and opportunities, including why every team caring for people living with diabetes would benefit from a pharmacist, and consider what the future may hold for pharmacists in diabetes care.
