This paper presents a novel Internet of Things (IoT)-based system for real-time fault detection, precise location tracking, and efficient maintenance of street lights in smart cities. The proposed system utilizes smart street light nodes equipped with light and current sensors, along with optional GPS modules for precise location identification. These nodes transmit data to a central cloud platform that performs real-time analysis to detect faults such as lamp failures, ballast malfunctions, power outages, and communication issues.Upon fault detection, the system generates automated alerts with detailed information, including the fault type and the exact location (address or GPS coordinates) of the faulty street light. This enables targeted maintenance interventions, leading to faster response times and improved public safety.Additionally, the system facilitates data-driven management of the street lighting network, optimizing resource allocation and minimizing energy consumption. The paper discusses the system architecture, its functionalities, and potential benefits for smart city infrastructure.
