The article examines the aspect of the influence of Yiddish on the formation of a unique linguistic and cultural phenomenon – the so-called “Odessanlanguage”. The formation of this linguistic code, which is a special urban koine, was largely influenced by the syntactic, lexical and other grammatical features of Yiddish. As concrete illustrations, both dictionary materials and recordings from the spoken language of residents of the Odessa city, as well as from fiction, are provided. Past and present situation, which is firmly rooted in modern Russian culture and has become an integral part of it. Its marked recognition by the native Russian people, characteristic intonation, words and phrases are not disputed and are still the subject of comic creation, they are imitated in Russian cinema and in modern mass-culture, which arose under the Russian-Ukrainian-Yiddish language congruence.
