The article presents an approach to ensuring electrical safety based on monitoring of electrical parameters. Conventional methods for assessing the risks of electrical injuries and continuous monitoring methods based on the industrial Internet of things are compared. Typical structures of monitoring systems are given, and their capabilities are described. A generalized structure of the monitoring system is proposed, and functions associated with improving the electrical safety of electrical installations are shown. The main parameters (insulation resistance, grounding and/or neutral-to-case connection loop resistance, leakage currents, and contact connection temperature) that affect the operational safety are identified. It is proposed to use new promising methods for measuring selected parameters and ways to use data for risk assessment.
