The q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets (q- ROFSs), which generalize intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFS) and Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFS), are one effective way of representing ambiguous data. The primary objective of this paper is to extend the idea of a similarity measure for q-ROFSs, that not only enables the similarity structure to develop additional ones, but also keeps the fundamental characteristics of a reasonable similarity measure. The great majority of qROFSs research has engaged in the development decision-making structures. A similarity measure is a critical component that quantifies the similarity of qROFSs. Then, we use our previously stated similarity measure and similarity measure with weights between q-ROFSs to multiple criteria selection (MADM) applications such as scheme selection. Moreover, two computational results are included to demonstrate the scientific and practical use of similarity measures in scheme selection.
