The article deals with a critical, source-based analysis of the memoirs of two residents of Vinnytsia – witnesses of the Holocaust – ent-doctor Vasyl Kulikov and carpenter Boris Pritzker. The first presented a Ukrainian view (observer’s view) on the problem of the genocide of Vinnytsia Jews, the second became a victim of the Holocaust, therefore he saw all the events from the «middle». Many facts from their memoirs are confirmed by the stories of other famous witnesses of the events, such as Wilhelm Rudkovsky, Sheva Portna, Yuriy Rahman, Lydia Milgotina (Levit). The conclusions note that on the one hand, the memoirs confirm and detail already known facts about the two largest actions of extermination of Jews, but on the other hand, they give different figures regarding those who remained in the occupation and died. Despite this, the authors of the memoirs were able to convey the socio-psychological atmosphere in which Vinnytsia Jews lived and survived, and awaited their terrible fate. Moreover, both authors drew attention to the help of the townspeople to the Jews, which is confirmed by other memoirs, despite the fact that among the non-Jewish population there were many who tried to improve their material situation at the expense of Jewish property or were anti-Semitic. Nevertheless, both the moral and material support of some of the Vinnytsia residents demonstrated their sympathy and empathy for the Jewish tragedy.
