Abstract Purpose: Laryngeal malignant neoplasm is a significant public health concern in Brazil due to its rising mortality rates in certain regions and populations. Factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and disparities in access to diagnosis and treatment influence mortality rates, which vary across the country’s regions. Regional analyses are essential to identify challenges and propose targeted solutions. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze and compare deaths and mortality rates from laryngeal malignant neoplasms between 2019 and 2023 in the different regions of Brazil, highlighting regional disparities and associated factors. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive, and quantitative study was conducted using data from the Brazilian Unified Health System’s Informatics Department (DATASUS). The analysis focused on deaths and mortality rates per 100, 000 inhabitants across the five regions of Brazil from 2019 to 2023, aiming to identify regional patterns and disparities. Results: Between 2019 and 2023, Brazil recorded 6, 093 deaths from malignant laryngeal neoplasms, with an average mortality rate of 10. 05 per 100, 000 inhabitants. The Southeast region registered the highest number of deaths (3, 022), followed by the Northeast (1, 310), South (1, 022), Central-West (437), and North (277). Despite the North having the lowest number of deaths, it exhibited the highest mortality rate (13. 97), whereas the Northeast had the lowest rate (8. 82). Meanwhile, the South (9. 17) and Central-West (10. 68) regions had mortality rates above the national average. Conclusion: The temporal analysis revealed stability in the mortality rates in the Southeast and a slight decrease in the Northeast, suggesting improvements in access to healthcare in the region. The high rate observed in the North highlights the persistent challenges related to early diagnosis and local healthcare infrastructure. On the other hand, the rates in the South and Central-West regions remained stable, which may indicate the effectiveness of local investments. Regional disparities in oncological care emphasize the urgency of specific strategies to expand access to early diagnosis and adequate treatments. It is crucial to invest in prevention campaigns, screening programs, and the expansion of specialized services in order to reduce these inequalities and improve health outcomes across Brazil.
