This study investigates the impact of emotionality in Domestic Violence Evidence-in-Chief (DVEC) on legal decision-making. DVECs are pre-recorded statements used in Australian and New Zealand domestic and family violence cases. While they can improve evidence accuracy, both the emotions displayed in the video and those evoked in jurors may influence perceptions. This research examines how these emotional cues affect verdicts, guilt ratings, and credibility assessments of complainants.
