The vestibulo-ocular reflex circuit converts vertical head or body movements into opposite eye movements to keep vision stable in vertebrates. In their work, Dena Goldblatt and colleagues show that birth order or ‘timing’ serves as crucial link that connects the sensory, central and motor populations of the vestibulo-ocular reflex circuit. To learn about their work, we spoke to the first author, Stephanie Huang, and corresponding author, Dena Goldblatt, postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke/National Institute of Health, USA.
