Primary autoimmune myelofibrosis is a rare condition, with only 26 cases identified in a recent literature review. Although the underpinning antibody has not been identified, the strong association with antinuclear antibodies (ANAs), the frequent associated autoimmune conditions, and near universal response to immunosuppression all support an inferred underlying autoimmune cause.
