Background: Ontario coroners oversee organ and tissue (O/T) donation in sudden or unexpected deaths, releasing or restricting O/T based on medicolegal requirements. No Canadian publications describe how death investigations intersect with O/T donation systems. As a result, this study aims to (a) determine O/T donation rates in coroner cases; (b) identify trends among death categories and demographics; and (c) provide areas of improvement in Ontario and internationally.
