The number of Machiya has been steadily declining year by year, highlighting the urgent need to rapidly assess their current status across various regions. This study aims to propose a survey method that leverages internet-based mapping function to investigate the remaining conditions and design characteristics of Machiya groups. By adopting a standardized research framework and analysis methodology, this approach enables data collection on Machiya groups from a national perspective within a relatively short timeframe.
