This study examines how qualitative methodology and research techniques are applied in migration studies in Türkiye through an analysis of completed TÜBİTAK-funded research projects. Focusing on the methodology sections of these projects, the article explores how researchers design qualitative studies, select data sources and data generation techniques, and analyse and interpret qualitative data. The findings reveal recurring patterns in methodological choices, highlight the growing importance of qualitative approaches in Turkish migration research, and underline the need for stronger methodological reflection in the field. By documenting research practices and experiences, the study aims to contribute to ongoing methodological debates and to provide guidance for scholars conducting qualitative migration research in complex and ethically sensitive contexts. This is a preprint/prepublication version of a chapter published Türkiye’de Kentleşme, Yerel Siyaset ve Göç: Sema Erder’e Armağan (Nika Yayınevi, 2026). The final published version is Turkish and available through the publisher and should be cited where possible.
