District hospitals in Nigeria face challenges in operational efficiency due to resource constraints and varying levels of service provision. A systematic review approach was employed to identify relevant studies and assess their methodologies. Time-series analysis techniques were applied to forecast future trends based on historical data. Despite the application of various forecasting models, a consistent trend towards efficiency improvements in some districts was observed, with forecasts indicating potential reductions in patient wait times by up to 20% over the next five years. The review suggests that time-series forecasting can be a valuable tool for monitoring and enhancing operational efficiency in district hospitals. However, further research is needed to validate these findings across different regions. Healthcare policymakers should consider investing in robust data collection systems and continuous improvement initiatives based on forecasted trends. Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
