In recent years, researchers have extended the attachment theory of John Bowlby into various other areas, such as romantic relations and other adult relations. Attachment to God is another area where this theory is being applied. This article, drawing from attachment theory, explores the relationship between early attachment experiences and attachment to God in later life. It evaluates how relationships with primary caregivers in infancy shape individuals’ perceptions of security, trust, and emotional regulation, which in turn influence their spiritual beliefs and attachment to God, highlighting the psychological implications and emphasizing how secure attachment to God can promote emotional resilience and well-being, while insecure attachment may contribute to anxiety or spiritual distress.
