Methodological Assessment of Public Health Surveillance Systems in Tanzania: A Randomised Field Trial Approach

Public health surveillance systems in Tanzania are critical for monitoring infectious diseases and other public health threats. A systematic literature review was conducted to assess existing public health surveillance systems in Tanzania. The study employed a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The findings indicate that while the current system captures over 80% of reported cases, there is room for improvement in data accuracy and timeliness. Despite challenges, the systems are reliable with significant potential for enhancement through targeted interventions. Improvements should include regular calibration exercises and training for health workers to ensure consistent reporting. Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
