Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) has increasingly been adopted as a standard treatment for chronic dacryocystitis and nasolacrimal duct obstruction. Historically, this technique was considered inferior to the external approach in terms of the surgical success rates. However, with advances in the understanding of the intranasal anatomy of the lacrimal drainage system and refinements in endoscopic surgical techniques, recent studies have demonstrated success rates of this procedure comparable to those of external DCR.
