To explore the influence of forgiveness and rumination thinking on aggression in prisoners and the internal psychological mechanism. A total of 530 inmates from a prison in Guangdong Province were selected as the research subjects. The investigation and research were conducted through the "Interpersonal Aggression Motivation Scale", "Nolen-Hoeksema Rumination Thinking Scale" and "Buss and Perry Aggression Questionnaire". There was a significant positive correlation among the forgiveness, rumination thinking and aggression of the inmates (p<0.01). Among them, forgiveness was significantly negatively correlated with rumination thinking and aggression, while rumination thinking was significantly positively correlated with aggression. Rumination plays a partial mediating role in the influence of forgiveness on aggression. The research conclusions have put forward inspirations and suggestions for the educational and reform practice of prisoners.
