This project investigates whether neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs), including autism, ADHD, and learning disorders, are best conceptualized as dimensional or categorical conditions. The primary goal is to conduct a critical systematic review of published studies using taxometric procedures targeting NDDs. The project critically evaluates the validity of taxometric methods in this domain, with special attention to methodological issues. Short simulations are added for illustrative purposes. The goal is to inform future studies that aim to disambiguate whether the true latent structure of most common NDDs is categorical or dimensional.
