Historic buildings hold great significance in our society, as they preserve the diverse artistic styles that have emerged throughout history. Many of these structures continue to fulfil their original functions even today. However, the risk of fire is especially severe for buildings constructed with combustible materials. The article deals with the current state of access roads, boarding areas and fire unit travel times to selected historic wooden buildings. We have selected 21 wooden sacral buildings in eastern Slovakia. We have assessed the condition of the access roads and boarding areas at these buildings. We compared the time of arrival of firefighting units to these objects according to the calculations used in the Slovak environment, with the time of arrival according to Google Maps during the night as well as during high traffic. The times according to Google Maps came out more favourable than according to the calculations used in the Slovak Fire and Rescue Service. These calculations are more than twenty years old, so we do not consider them to be up to date anymore as the nature of traffic has changed as well as the typology of vehicles used.
