Based on the theory of multimodal discourse analysis, this paper explores the characteristics, challenges, and strategies of English film subtitle translation. By analyzing the synergistic effects of visual, auditory, and linguistic modalities, the paper reveals the application value of multimodal discourse analysis in subtitle translation. The study finds that comprehensive consideration of multimodal information can improve the accuracy of subtitle translation and the audience's viewing experience, providing new theoretical perspectives and methodological support for the practice of film subtitle translation.
