The Nambul River is one of the important drainages of the Imphal city, Manipur. This river is facing a number of problems on pollution, sewage dumping, and recycling or water treatment of it. It has one of the most polluted river water in the state. The Nambul River play a big role in the hydrological parameters of the Loktak Lake in the state, as it is a sub basin of the Loktak basin. It creates a culprit of the Loktak water quality, water and other environmental pollution of the Imphal city area. It has been observed that a deep study on the characteristics of the river channel, nature of water flow and its contribution to the urban and rural water supply, pollution measures of the urban waste and other sewers join to it. The main objective of this paper is to identify main characteristics of this river in the urban and other local environment, particularly in the Loktak Lake, and its conservation measures of its water pollution and urban waste.
