This chapter explores how colonial and capitalist structures have influenced modern perceptions of gender and labor. It highlights women’s labor - both paid and unpaid - as central to social reproduction and political mobilization, and foregrounds the under-researched activism of women workers in Morocco demanding socioeconomic rights.
