Evaluating the predictive validity of SARC-F cut-off scores for low muscle strength among older adults in a low-income community
Key Points
Improved sensitivity for detecting probable sarcopenia with a SARC-F cut-off of ≥2 is indicated.
SARC-F cut-off testing involves measuring low muscle strength among older adults in low-income communities.
Longitudinal validation is needed for accurate screening across various population groups and settings.
The findings suggest implementing the SARC-F cut-off might help in community health targeted interventions.
Abstract
A SARC-F cut-off of ≥2 improves sensitivity for detecting probable sarcopenia and may be more suitable for screening in low-income settings. Longitudinal validation is warranted across diverse populations.
