• Various major factors that led to the increase in adoption of EV in Indian markets are compared and discussed. • Used National ARIMAX (population-weighted) and Panel Fixed effects (state-weighted) methods to provide two different point of views. • Quantised the effect of each factor into immediate effect and sustained effects. • Ranked all the states to identify the top performing ones in terms of annual growth and number of vehicles sold. • Stage-differentiated interventions recommended like higher subsidies, infrastructure co-investment for emerging markets. The global transition towards sustainable transportation highlights India as a crucial market for Electrified Vehicle (xEV) adoption. Widespread xEV penetration in India remained minimal before 2020–2021. This paper investigates the key patterns and trends of the Indian xEV market from 2020 to 2025. Quantification and analyses of the historical trend and growth rate of Electrified Vehicle is performed. The data is taken from my parivahan registrations for the period January 2002–March 2025. Market share of EV in comparison to other fuel type vehicles in India are analysed. The analysis has been performed on python 3.10 using libraries like pandas and numpy. For the data visualization, libraries matplotlib and seaborn were used. Various factors which has lead to accelerated adoption of electrified vehicles within the Indian market are thoroughly discussed. Atlast, the geographical variations in the EV market share across Indian states are analysed, identifying leading and lagging regions.
