Lithium-Ion Batteries Materials In their Research Article (10.1002/adfm.202528458), Li Wang, Xiangming He, and co-workers demonstrate a novel “low-temperature lithiation–high-temperature crystallization” strategy for synthesizing high-performance Ni-rich Co-free layered cathodes. By preserving the ordered arrangement of transition metal layers during synthesis, this strategy effectively suppresses harmful structural defects and enhances the reversibility of phase transitions and lattice stability of cathodes during cycling. This work offers a practical pathway to simultaneously improve performance and structural integrity, significantly reducing the reliance on costly Co in next-generation lithium-ion batteries.
