Health systems in Gambia have faced challenges during epidemic responses, necessitating a deeper understanding of resilience mechanisms. The study employs both qualitative interviews with key informants and quantitative data analysis of surveillance reports to assess health system performance and community engagement during epidemic responses. A key finding is that while community mobilization was effective in containing the Ebola outbreak, sustained financial support for healthcare infrastructure remains a significant challenge in managing current pandemic challenges. The findings suggest that enhancing financial sustainability of health services can bolster resilience against future epidemics. Investment in long-term health system resources and community engagement strategies are recommended to improve epidemic preparedness and response effectiveness.
