ABSTRACT The dehydrogenative coupling reaction between toluene and in situ‐generated coumarin derivatives is described herein under the influence of rGO@MnFe 2 O 4 as a catalyst. The overall process relies on the dual C‐H bond functionalization strategies and the late‐stage C–H functionalization of O ‐heterocycles in toluene, leading to the regioselective formation of ortho ‐tolyl‐chromen‐2‐one derivatives in yields ranging from 48% to 71%. Control experiments were performed to investigate the reaction pathway, highlighting the role of radical intermediates. The magnetic nanocatalyst demonstrated excellent reusability and recyclability, retaining its catalytic activities over four consecutive reaction cycles.
