This study investigates numerically the effects of biodiesel blend on engine performance and emissions. The tested engine worked at a fixed speed and with predefined conditions. The tested blends were pure diesel and pure biodiesel blends. A numerical model was developed on ANSYS FORTE software. Results indicated that biodiesel blend reduce significantly carbon monoxide and other pollutant emissions, by about 60 % and 30% respectively. This found was attributed to the characteristics of this blend, which contain a high amount of oxygen. Also this work demonstrated that biodiesel could improve the engine power, and this could be attributed to the high amount of oxygen in biodiesel which enhances the combustion. This work lays the groundwork for future investigations, including a basis for optimizing engine performance and emissions when using alternative fuels.
