Rapid technological development has transformed traditional workplaces, shifting work from offices to homes, particularly in the Information Technology (IT) sector, yet employee working conditions and work–life balance remain significant concerns. Factors such as workload, work schedules, health status, remuneration, job security, and socio-economic conditions strongly influence employee satisfaction and productivity, with a balanced work–life environment widely recognized as essential for improving work quality and organizational performance. The rapid growth of digital infrastructure and the increased adoption of remote and hybrid work models have further altered work practices, especially after global disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic. In IT hubs like Coimbatore, employees from different generations—Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z—exhibit varying levels of adaptability and preference toward remote work due to differences in work values, technological exposure, and expectations of flexibility. Understanding these generational differences is crucial for organizations to balance employee well-being with productivity.
