Abstract: Acetylsalicylic acid is a drug with high production and consumption worldwide. Therefore, it is necessary to develop analytical methodologies that use fewer solvents. Thus, an analytical methodology was developed to obtain an eco-friendly method. The developed method can be successfully applied to the analysis of aspirin tablets. In addition, the developed methodology was evaluated for its green character using four metrics: green star (GS), NEMI, AGREE, analytical eco-scale (AES), as well as cost and time parameters. Based on the GS metric, the developed methodology meets five principles of Green Chemistry, compared with two principles met by the pharmacopeial methodology. According to NEMI, three filled quadrants were observed, compared with two quadrants for the original method, and an AES score of 93 was achieved, compared with 80 points for the pharmacopeial method. According to AGREE, the green methodology presented a score of 0.67 versus 0.35 for the original method, demonstrating the greater green character of the developed methodology. In addition, it showed a 72.5% reduction in cost and a 65% reduction in time compared with the pharmacopeial methodology. discussion: --
