The lattice Boltzmann method is a mesoscopic approach for solving hydrodynamic problems involving laminar and turbulent fluids. Although its suitability for laminar flows is supported by a myriad of studies, turbulent flows give rise to additional challenges. We estimate the accuracy of the simulation results obtained via an implementation of a lattice Boltzmann solver for a two-dimensional turbulent flow. We apply this solver to simulate a two-dimensional flow field filled with randomly located rigid disks and study the von Karman vortex street generated after the wake of such obstacles.
