Through research methods such as literature review and logical analysis, this paper elaborates on the connotation of traditional sports culture from the perspective of cultural governance, analyzes the values contained in traditional sports, and explores its positive implications for building socialist core values and enhancing the effectiveness of social governance systems and provide theoretical and practical references for using traditional sports cultural resources to serve social governance through case analysis. The study examines the influence of traditional sports practices on psychological factors in the formation of public social governance. Cultural governance is a part of social governance and is determined by psychological connections in the course of cultural and administrative practices. It is assumed that the use of the potential of traditional sports, which is closely related to community unification and social activities, can contribute to their improvement. The study involved 486 participants aged 18 to 62 years from 18 provinces of China, half of whom practice traditional sports. A survey was conducted on a 5-point Likert scale for self-assessment of awareness of one’s own identity with the community and the level of social activity. It was found that those who have been practicing for six months have significantly higher levels of both indicators compared to those who have just started practicing. Also, significantly higher indicators are found among those who have a university education or are currently studying, and among those involved in traditional sports compared to those not involved. These results can be used to develop local social governance in countries with their own traditions of sporting life that have the character of a national heritage.
