The solar thermal utilization technology is the effective method of a battle against global warming. And it is attracting attention as a renewable energy source that does not depend on a fossil fuel. In that technology, the solar collector is widely used for purposes, such as a water heater and heating, in a residence or industry. Especially the evacuated double glass tube solar energy collector has a small heat loss, and since it has a high heat collection efficiency, we hope its practical application. However, the solar thermal energy has intermittence and sparseness. When using the thermal energy obtained in the daytime for night, or in using for clouding, the storage technology of thermal energy is needed. We propose the solar thermal collector that combined the latent heat storage technology with the evacuated double glass tube solar energy collector in this research. Besides, based on the preliminary experimental results, we adopted Xylitol as latent heat storage material. We conducted the heat collection performance test about the collector of a hot water type, a heat pipe type, and a latent heat storage composite type. In this report, we report the practical use possibility of the solar collector with a latent heat storage technology.
