The article reviews the literature which includes data about the relationship between susceptibility to antiretroviral therapy of HIV-positive patients and its manifestation in the oral cavity. The decrease in the number of CD4+ T-lymphocytes leads to the development of secondary diseases in the maxillofacial area. Taking antiretroviral therapy reduces the number of cases of opportunistic diseases: candidiasis, LDE, ulcerative necrotizing periodontitis, herpes virus, “hairy” leukoplakia, with the exception of papillomavirus lesions, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, diseases of unknown etiology.
