In this article, Hans Boersma proposes a metaphysic of love as the primary framework for understanding the creator-creature relationship, contrasting it with traditional substance-based ontologies. Drawing on Christian Platonism and the theophanic visions of Dionysius and Maximus, Boersma argues that creation is God’s self-manifestation in a different mode. By prioritizing Love (caritas) over Being (esse), Boersma highlights God’s radical transcendence and immanent self-diffusion through Christ .
