The teaching profession has seen remarkable changes in the 21st century, with educators navigating newchallenges that affect both their professional satisfaction and personal lives. This literature review bringstogether research conducted between 2010 and 2024 on work-life balance and job satisfaction amongsecondary school teachers. It highlights major themes, theoretical perspectives, and current developmentsshaping this field of study. The review covers early research on demographic influences, comparesoutcomes across different school types, and explores more recent issues, including the impact of theCOVID-19 pandemic. Evidence consistently shows that work-life balance is a strong predictor of jobsatisfaction, with factors such as school culture, leadership support, and personal coping mechanismsplaying important roles. However, the review also points out significant gaps, especially in researchfocusing on rural areas and developing countries. Finally, it outlines implications for both policy andpractice, stressing the importance of strategies that address teacher well-being at both the personal andorganizational level in order to enhance the overall quality of education.
