In this present study, maladjusted behaviour among secondary school students refers to inadequate adaptation to academic, social, and emotional demands, resulting in emotional instability, behavioural problems, and poor functioning. This study mainly focused on the maladjusted behaviour of secondary school students in relation to their gender and locality. The methodology of this study used a quantitative method. A sample size of 40 students from high schools of the Paschim Medinipur district was selected by a random sampling technique. The assessment instruments used in the study were the Maladjusted Behavioral Measurement Scale for secondary school students by researchers. The findings of this study were that maladjusted behaviour between male and female secondary school students is the same, but rural secondary school students exhibit a higher level of maladjusted behaviour compared to their urban secondary school students. Educational and psychological interventions are necessary to address maladjustment among rural secondary school students.
