Biomechanical interdependence between ACL and menisci must always be considered performing ACL reconstruction in order to achieve satisfactory functional results and to protect the knee from later developing osteoarthritis. The meniscus role in load bearing, shock absorption, joint lubrication and congruity have been well documented. The influence of meniscus on knee stability, however, remains controversial. In particular the kinematics effect of different kind of tears and resection regarding medial and lateral meniscus in the ACL-deficient knee is still not clear.
