This paper describes the behavior of the bearing fault signature as seen in the current spectrum and tries to quantify it. The idea is to propose some indicators that have information on the type and severity of the fault. The methodology links the eccentricity induced by the bearing fault to the position and amplitude of the signature in the current spectrum. It also proposes the signal processing methodology where the bands corresponding to inner raceway faults, outer raceway faults or rolling element faults are monitored and quantified along with their variation. Finally, all the parameters calculated from redundant measurements are projected on a Gaussian curve to assign weights. Its value indicates the importance of the calculated parameter from the new measurement so that the fluctuation can be reduced while determining the health of the bearing.
