Abstract A novel reagent, (oxido)phenyl(trifluoromethyl)‐λ 4 ‐sulfanylidenedimethylammonium tetrafluoroborate has been developed for the electrophilic trifluoromethylation of carbon nucleophiles. The reagent was designed as a trifluorinated version of a Johnson‐type methyl‐transfer reagent.
