Overview of Module: 1) Content. This module outlines the fundamental steps for building a simple interactive map. It demonstrates the steps using data from a study of beetles in the Genus Cephaloleia that occur along an elevational transect at La Selva Research Station and the Braulio Carrillo National Park in Costa Rica. 2) Activities. This module uses the popular Leaflet (https://leafletjs.com/) library to provide an example for module users to work through using JavaScript code snippets. Guidance is provided about performing a self-evaluation regarding time and skill in addition to considering which map elements to include in order to accomplish or support the main learning objectives. 3) Impact. Learners will be able to create interactive maps that enable them to convey complex concepts that may not be communicated as well with just words.
