We evaluated high-engagement melanoma-related content circulating on social media and compared media articles with peer-reviewed journal articles using a validated cancer expert assessment tool. Misinformation was identified in approximately one-quarter of media articles, while none of the peer-reviewed journal articles contained misinformation or harmful information.
