ApoB, hs-CRP, and sortilin levels were significantly higher in young male hypertensive patients compared to healthy controls, with ApoB showing the highest diagnostic accuracy (AUC 0.887, p<0.0001).

Do ApoB, hs-CRP, and sortilin biomarkers predict arterial hypertension in young male patients?
120 male patients (55 hypertensive and 65 healthy), aged 23-45 years, in Azerbaijan
Measurement of ApoB, hs-CRP, and sortilin biomarkers
Healthy control group (65 healthy males)
Diagnostic performance (sensitivity, specificity, AUC) and correlation of ApoB, hs-CRP, and sortilin for arterial hypertensionsurrogate
ApoB, hs-CRP, and sortilin are significantly elevated in young men with hypertension and demonstrate strong diagnostic utility, particularly ApoB.
Effect estimate: AUC 0.887 for ApoB, 0.812 for hs-CRP, 0.738 for sortilin
p-value: p=<0.0001
Abstract Background The fact that hypertension is more common than expected even among professional groups with an active lifestyle, such as military personnel, athletes, and young activists, contradicts studies in recent years indicating that physical activity reduces the risk of hypertension (HT). This situation increases the need for a reliable biological marker, beyond classical methods, that could signal hypertension and clarify its pathophysiology. Purpose This study aimed to investigate, for diagnostic purposes the relationship between lipid profile, inflammatory markers, and the sortilin levels of hypertension detected in young popuation in the Azerbaijan. Materials p0.01). It was determined that there were significant positive correlations between SBP values and ApoB, hs-CRP and sortilin levels (rs = 0.5201, rs = 0.5369 and rs = 0.4823; p 0.0001). In the ROC analysis for the diagnosis of HT, the performance of ApoB (cutoff 0.96 g/L), hs-CRP (2.6 mg/dL) and sortilin (1.64 ng/mL); Its sensitivity was 89.09%, 58.18% and 74.55%, its specificity was 80.62%, 96.92%, and 64.62%, and its AUC value was 0.887, 0.812 and 0.738, respectively (p0.0001). Conclusions hs-CRP, ApoB, and sortilin biomarkers show a close relationship with HT independently of each other. It was determined that sortilin, which causes various metabolic effects by triggering biological responses within the cell, hs-CRP, which is an indicator of the pro-inflammatory process, and ApoB, which is involved in lipid metabolism, can be used effectively in the diagnosis and follow-up of HT when used together.Table 1For image description, please refer to the figure legend and surrounding text. I L A Abdurahman (Fri,) conducted a case-control in Arterial hypertension (n=120). ApoB, hs-CRP, and sortilin biomarkers vs. Healthy controls was evaluated on Diagnostic performance for hypertension (AUC 0.887 for ApoB, 0.812 for hs-CRP, 0.738 for sortilin, p=<0.0001). ApoB, hs-CRP, and sortilin levels were significantly higher in young male hypertensive patients compared to healthy controls, with ApoB showing the highest diagnostic accuracy (AUC 0.887, p<0.0001).
