A key source of regional imagery construction lies in the concrete depiction of regional spaces within visual media, which, under the influence of globalization, faces the pressing challenge of homogenization. The mechanisms and emotional resonance of regional architecture and environments within visual scenes have become core issues in shaping regional culture. This study focuses on how regional imagery, from an ergonomic perspective, reflects the value of cultural heritage. First, four films were selected to analyze the narrative characteristics of various regional spatial elements in single-frame and transitional shots. Next, 10 types of regional elements were examined through eye-tracking experiments to explore visual patterns. Finally, a questionnaire experiment analyzed participants’ emotional responses during viewing. The research reveals that the representation of regional spaces in visual media significantly impacts viewers, showing differences in visual behavior (dispersed, linear, and concentrated patterns) and eliciting positive or negative emotions based on indoor and outdoor scene characteristics. These findings provide a technical approach for constructing regional imagery, positioning sensory experience as a crucial aspect of regional design. By harnessing the powerful influence of visual arts, this approach revitalizes regional imagery and acts as a positive stimulus for spatial optimization, historical preservation, and other related areas.
