Abstract Folklorists often face the tension between their own beliefs and the beliefs of those they study. In the current political climate, access to factual information has become more important than ever, and folklorists should strive to make sure they have accurate information for both themselves and their participants. In this article, I discuss the links between disease, conspiracy theory, and ableism in the current administration and how those ideologies and their history are crucial information for folklorists.
