Statement of the problem. The physically nonlinear formulation of the continuum mechanics problem for calculating concrete and reinforced concrete structures includes a concrete strength criterion specified by the loading surface. In Russia, the criteria of P. P. Balandin — G. A. Geniev — V. N. Kissyuk and N. I. Karpenko for concrete strength are recognized and regarded as classical. In foreign software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, ATENA and others, the criteria of D. Drucker — V. Prager and F. Menétrey — K. Willam are applied. A comparison of these strength models is of great practical interest. Results. The article presents mathematical descriptions of four concrete strength models, their loading surfaces in the principal stress space, and deviatoric curves in the Haigh — Westergaard coordinate system. Conclusions. The study has established the almost complete similarity of the loading surfaces for Karpenko and Menétrey — Willam for heavy concrete. These criteria also proved to be the most conservative.
