This presentation outlines a proposed research study examining the extension of digital vaccine passport systems beyond COVID-19, using Thailand’s INTERVAC platform as a case study. The presentation examines how digital certification systems originally developed during the COVID-19 pandemic are being adapted for non-COVID travel vaccinations, including yellow fever, meningococcal, influenza, and cholera vaccines. Using the Royal Society’s framework for vaccine passports, the study analyses scientific, technical, interoperability, legal, ethical, and implementation considerations relevant to digital vaccine certification systems. The presentation draws on institutional documents, WHO guidance, international regulatory frameworks, and policy literature to assess Thailand’s experience and identify lessons for future digital health infrastructure development. This work was completed as part of the MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford.
