Abstract The present modern education system focusses on the all-round development of learner at all stages of education. The 21st Century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving ability, environment consciousness, self-awareness, analytical thinking that prepare them for facing challenges in all walks of personal and professional life. The New education policy (NEP 2020) has designed a new curriculum throughout with an objective of cultivating holistic development of learner. With the advent of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) integrated at higher education, there has been a drastic change in the perception of the concepts of indigenous branch of knowledge evolved from our ancient civilization. The study aims to draw the significance IKS enabling towards the holistic development of Undergraduate students of modern education system. It employed an online survey of 88 UG students of Solapur district to understand their perception about IKS and its role in their development. The outcome of this research work will be useful for ensuring quick acceptance of the concept by the student community and designing appropriate policy measures.
