The article discusses the Epistle of Patriarch Thomas and the outstanding theologian of the Christian East Theodore Abū Qurrah, a document worthy of consideration in the context of Armeno-Byzantine ecclesiastical and political relations. The author aims to identify the persons connected with the document: Thomas, patriarch of Jerusalem, Abū Qurrah, bishop of Harran, Michael Syncellus, the translator of the Epistle from Arabic into Greek and the supposed patriarchal envoy to Armenia, and the possible addressee of the Epistle, the influential prince Ashot Msaker (Meat-Eater) Bagratid. Together with the historical context, the paper also briefly analyses the Christological content of the Epistle.
